"If you want to go fast,
go alone.
If you want to go far
go together."
-African Proverb
I'd like to apply this African Proverb to me and the Holy Spirit. I get impatient, but I really do desire to go far.. So, Lord, I accept your invite; I love you and want to be with you- wherever that may take me. (strong words, eh?)
God, I know I don't have to remind you of what my desires are, because you've put most of them there anyway, but I'd like to upfront and honest- will you bless me? Jabez' Prayer is striking a chord...bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me and keep me from evil, that I may be free from pain (1 Chronicles 4:10).
It sounds selfish to ask for blessing but your word also encourages me to ask (Matthew 7:7-11, Matthew 21:22, John 14:14, Psalm 37:3-5). So, there it is. I'd love to know now what's going on in that brain of yours, but being an earthly human I realize that is not realistic; and my understanding sucks compared to yours. Notice, I did not say "not possible" because nothing is impossible with you (Mark 10:27); however, I really don't want to know my whole story...yikes that'd be quite the burden (and my head would probably explode)!
(gasp) Is it at all, a burden for you to carry around? Knowing everything, and yet- standing your ground when we choose to make things happen faster and go it ALONE-testing your ultimate plan? I imagine that would be so incredibly annoying; not to mention the self-control it takes not to spill out the rest of the crazy good and bad details of everyone's lives right in front of us.
Um, wow. Thanks for taking on such a huge
task. The measures at which you go to protect me are unbelievable and I'm often not even aware. (I'm sorry for being a lousy daughter at times.) I promise to learn patience, I don't want to do things by myself; I'd rather go far TOGETHER..Take me with you?
